coffee table books

one of the products i get asked about a lot is the coffee table book.  what sizes can i order?  what kind of paper and binding do you use?  are all of the books custom-designed? 

i'm thinking it's time for photos and details.

the pictures below are from a book i designed for this little munchkin's first birthday.  i had been seeing her for sessions every three months since she was born, and this coffee table book was the perfect way to remember and celebrate her first year in photos. 


want to know the scoop on these gems?  here's a little q&a for you:

1. what sizes do you offer?
press-printed albums are currently available in an 8x8 size, and they are the usual choice for compiling a bride and groom's wedding photographs.  press-printed books (as shown below) are available in a variety of square and rectangle sizes ranging from 5x5 to 8.5x11 -- all the way up to 12x12!


 2. what kind of paper are the photos printed on?
for the albums, photos are printed onto art watercolor and are then adhered to a thick black cardstock to provide extra rigidity.  this makes for a beautiful, upscale presentation!  the books are printed on your choice of semi-gloss or pearl paper (the pearl is only available for hinged books).

3.  what's the deal with hinged books?
press-printed books are available in two different styles: a traditional book with magazine-style pages or a hinged book which allows the book and its pages to lay flat.  (all albums are flush-mount and each page lays flat with no middle gutter.)

4.  what are my cover options?
you've got a lot of choices on that one!  you can choose a variety of colors of fabric or leather -- or you even select a custom photo cover.

5.  i don't want my book to look like anyone else's.  do you design all of the books in-house?
i don't want your book to look like anyone else's either!  most of my work is custom-designed right here in my office.  while i occasionally use templates for book designs, i only utilize the best, fully-customizable templates.  that gives me the freedom to change almost everything from fonts and wording to colors and layout.  in other words, two books designed off of the exact same template will look very, very different. 


6.  how many pages are in each book?
that depends on how many photos you want to include.  each book or album has a minimum of 10 pages (20 sides), but depending on the type of paper and binding you choose, can include as many as 50 pages.

7.  how long does it take for my book to ship?
not long!  once we've finalized your design, i submit it to the company for printing and binding and usually have it back within a week or so.

8.  how much do books and albums cost?
prices begin at $90 for press-printed books and $190 for press-printed albums and will be based on the options you choose for paper, cover material, etc.
