holiday mini-sessions

so here's how it usually goes.  mom decides she wants a killer photo for the family christmas card this year.  she sets a date to take the picture, writes it on her calendar, and she spends the next few weeks planning each and every detail from the setting to the outfits to the angelic smiles she prays she'll be able to coax out of her little munchkins.  she's really looking forward to this year's card -- it's going to be a good one.

the big day arrives.  mom throws her voice up an octave and greets her groggy family with a sugary "good morning" as she prepares to serve them a beautiful and delicious breakfast that she's sure will put them in a delightful mood.  uh-oh.  what was that?!?

oh man.  little johnny accidentally spilled his milk.  it flew across the table and landed in susie q's lap.  susie starts wailing (giving herself bright red puffy eyes in the process), johnny's lip is quivering (once he crumbles, there's no getting him back), dad's wondering what all this june cleaver business was in the first place (he never was a huge fan of the annual christmas-card-picture-taking-day), and mom is watching her perfect photo disappear with every drip of milk onto her newly mopped floors.

there's a better way, people.

after many requests, i'm setting up holiday mini-sessions this year so i can help you get a fantastic family photo that i promise won't make a single one of you cry.  in fact, i hope you leave thinking that you actually had a pretty good time!  it's fun for the kids, easy for the parents, and the best part is that it's quick and painless.

2010 holiday mini sessions

for those of you who are paying very close attention, yes, that's my birthday.  that should prove how much i love you guys -- that i want to spend my whole special day with you.  ;-)  (kidding.  i do love you, but the last weekend in october is usually a gorgeous time to shoot photos and i'd hate to miss it just because i'm turning 33 27.)

you'll notice that i didn't put a specific location up in birmingham.  i'd like to wait until a little closer to time to specify that because some of my favorite hot spots tend to surprise me with unexpected fall festivals or other gatherings of large numbers of people that you don't want in your christmas card photo.  the location will be in the immediate birmingham area, though.  (and for you atlanta folks that i'm hearing from, i might be able to work something out for you also.  if you're interested in setting up a session -- mini or full -- please let me know asap so i can look into trekking over a weekend or two around that time to shoot there as well.)

please pass this around to anybody you know who wants to avoid the tears and drama of DIY christmas photos this year.  if word spreads fast enough and i end up needing to add a second date, there might be a little something in it for you (as in a FREE MINI-SESSION drawing among the registered clients!)

*there is a $50 non-refundable deposit due at booking to reserve your time.  the balance is due the day of your session.*

I'd love to have a mini session, but I'm in Atlanta for a conference this weekend :-( We'll have to be in touch about an alternate weekend to do a fall shoot instead.
