before i get started, stay tuned for some exciting new products and announcements to come. lots will be happening over the next few weeks here in my little corner of cyberspace.
if you've followed me for any length of time, you've heard me talk about anna. i mentioned her here when she allowed me to take part in the amazing day of her twins' birth, and i gab about her all the time on my personal blog (which i unfortunately had to set to "private" due to some overzealous readers. but let me know if you'd like access to that one, and assuming that someone i trust can vouch for your sanity, i'll be happy to send you an email invite to join.) ;-)
well this week, anna, her immediate family, and twenty-something other members of her husband's extended family are vacationing together at the lake, and somehow my kiddos and i scored an invitation to join in the fun for a day. now when i think of lake houses, i typically think of little, aged, and slightly smelly houses that sit on a corner of dirty pond water (i'm a big fan, can't you tell??)
but that's not exactly what "lake house" means in this context. as i drove up, i could tell something was already different...
and as we drove up the driveway, it became clear that this was no stinky shack.
no sooner had we arrived at the mansion-posing-as-a-lake-house than we were ushered out to the pool where my little people enjoyed a cool escape from the heat...
anna's oldest, addie, showed my kiddos how to have a good time...
while anne perry and audrey kate had a good time of their own.
i, on the other hand, spent more time enjoying the view from the pool than anything else.
the pool was a hit, but the $2 bottle of bubbles is what really got the under-six crowd going. addie's little cousin, kira, REALLY wanted to blow bubbles but she couldn't quite get it down at first.
her daddy taught her again and again with patient instruction...
and by george, she finally got it!!
the bubble-ladies might have been just a wee bit excited!
it didn't take addie long, though, to find something else to be pumped about. she even tried to kiss her new friend.
thank you guys so much for adopting us as wamsteds for the day. we had so, so, so much fun (and the kiddos napped so, so, so well when we got home)! ;-) by the way, anna...i've decided that addie has a gorgeous non-smiling face in addition to her darling crinkled-nose grin. if we can ever get past that whole "doesn't like to have her picture taken" thing, we'll be golden.
i love you, sweet friend!!

most. gorgeous. house. ever. And the twins sleeping were adorable!
That's Lay Lake. Isnt that Richard Scrushy's old place??
yep, that's right. the wamsteds had been told it belonged to the pre-scrushy CEO of healthsouth, but i'm not sure. it had a letter inlaid in the driveway...an "H" maybe?? anna, run outside and tell me what letter that is. ;-)
Beautiful, simply beautiful. I adore the last B/W one of Addie, but they are all great.
yup...an "H". the man who rented it to us was named larry house (or something "house") and google said he was the former ceo before scrushy. we're going to assume that he made his money honestly ;)
