sara - six month session

rain. storms. dreary skies.  it didn't seem like bethany and i were ever going to be able to find a nice day for baby sara's six-month pictures.  normally i'm a big fan of overcast skies, but i really, really wanted to shoot the end of sara's session at a particular place in particular lighting.

and that lighting involved the sunset.

we were running out of time since i was about to leave for ethiopia, so we accepted the clouds and started shooting away.  the beauty of working with ben and bethany, though, is that they can make just about any situation fun, lighthearted, and perfect.

but now that i think about it, their joy probably has something to do with the precious gift god has blessed them with.

shortly after ben had to head out, the clouds started to clear a tiny bit so i hurried to grab a few shots that really needed a touch of sun (aunt hannah, the second set is just for you, babe).  :-)

the clouds soon came back, sara fell asleep, and so we waited.  thankfully, "waiting" entailed lots of chatting and laughing as bethany and i have become friends since i first met her to shoot her maternity photos last year.  after about 30 minutes, the clouds rolled away, the sun melted into the trees, and i knew it had arrived...the golden hour.  bethany roused sleepy sara from her snoozer, and we were able to capture my absolute favorite photographs from the whole day.

bethany, it was a joy (as always) to spend the afternoon with you and your fabulous family.  not that i ever doubted this, but it's really, REALLY official now...sara is an absolute doll!!!!

She is a doll and REALLY seems to like the outfit with the bonnet. I love the side shot of her with those big blues - so gorgeous!

Allison, thank you so much for capturing these beautiful photos of our precious gift from God! You have an amazing gift. I am so proud to call you my friend also and I am really looking forward to a playdate that must be in the near future after you bring baby Micah home and get settled in!
