facebook top ten of 2010

as i've been reminiscing over 2010's sessions and events and eagerly awaiting those coming in 2011, i've come to realize two things:  a) i'm enormously blessed to do what i do (ok, i've known that one for a while, but i'm reminded about how fabulous my clients are and how thankful i am to work with them) and b) i'm thinking it's time for a contest.

every few months i toss a contest out of some sort, but i'm super-excited about this one.  rather than a giveaway for a future session (don't be too disappointed, one of those is coming soon), i'm going to do a facebook contest based on ten of my favorite photos of 2010.  now here's the deal: you can view the photos below or on my facebook page, but to vote for your favorite, you need to "like" that photo on facebook.  but you don't have to stop with just one...feel free to cast your vote for your favorite two, three, or even seven photos!  at the end of the week (friday, january 7), the person/family whose photo received the most votes wins a FREE 16x20 PRINT of the photo of their choice from their 2010 session.  so if your photo was chosen as one of this year's TOP TEN, make sure to send all of your family and friends to my facebook page to vote for you.  (and make sure to "like" allison lewis photography while you're there!)

and now for the contest photos:

1.  drew and lacey
drew and lacey were the first couple whose wedding i photographed this year, and it was nothing short of a huge joy to not only spend that day with them but also to watch them grow together over this last almost-year.  they've got a mission trip planned to thailand soon, and then hopefully when they get back i'll be able to once again turn the camera to them for their one-year anniversary.  :-)

2.  the strevy family
the strevys took advantage of the "photography freeze" sessions i did last winter, and despite the coooold temperatures, we had so much fun shooting together that day.  what i love so much about this photo is that it 100% embodies what i strive to do most when shooting family and children sessions:  capture life as it really is.  far from a staged, "smile at the camera" kind of picture, this photo will be a forever reminder of how much fun it is for a momma to play chase with her little one.

3.  rosemary
i don't do a ton of senior sessions, but whenever i accept them, i always come away so thankful that i did.  and rosemary's senior session was no exception.  our time was lighthearted and fun, and she was a dream to work with.  so darling, so sweet, and so beautiful.

4.  annaka (and malcolm)
ok, poor malcolm is kind of getting left out of the contest - not because he wasn't a dashing groom on his wedding day this summer, but because this photo of annaka is just too gorgeous to pass up.  as i watched annaka getting ready on the morning of her wedding, i remember thinking that she was one of the most stunning brides i had ever seen (and that i was so thankful she had asked me to shoot her wedding!).  this picture just screams beautiful, timeless, bridal.

5.  anne perry and audrey kate
oh, there are no words to fully describe the love, prayers, and emotion that go into this next photo.  the picture wasn't from an actual session, per se, but rather a photo documentation of the perfect and beautiful ending of a long and scary journey.  in this photo, the girls are only about an hour or so old - you can still see their little hospital caps and blankies - but i'm so incredibly thankful for the lives of these little girls and this photo just warms my heart so it's definitely in my top ten.  (i'm also incredibly thankful to have anne perry and audrey kate's mom, anna, as my second shooter at weddings this year.)  you can read more about these little munchkins here.

6.  elinor
every time i look at this photo, i feel like i'm staring into the pages of a christmas ad from gap.  elinor was so much fun to shoot photographs with, and her gorgeous hair, bright scarf, and beautiful leaves just make me smile.  oh, and it kind of makes me want to go shop at gap, too.  hee-hee.

7.  bethany
i'm going to go ahead and let you know that i'm kind of cheating on this next one (but hey, it's my contest, right?)  :-)  i tried picking just one of these photographs for the FACEBOOK TOP TEN, but one just isn't complete without the other.  i shot maternity photos with bethany and ben back in september and had an absolutely fantastic time (which wasn't very hard to do with a hayfield and a beauty like bethany).

k

but the culmination of that session came when i was honored to shoot baby sara's newborn photos just a few weeks later.   good gracious, this baby is gorgeous, and she and her momma make quite a fantastic team.

8.  the palmer family
what do i love about this photo?  well, pretty much all of it.  i adore everything from the mood and the lighting to the sweet family hand-holding and the way little abbie was turned to try to watch me behind her.  i loved, loved, loved my time with the palmer family, and we got some precious photos out of our session.  they're so sweet and so much fun!!!

9.  michael and robin
i could have come up with a facebook top 40 just from my beach session with michael, robin, and their children.  they are one of those families that i could spend a solid month with and love every minute.  michael and robin absolutely pour out love, compassion, and kindness for one another and for others around them, and it's a true blessing to be called their friend.

10.  adam and sybil
where to being with adam and sybil?  i first met these two when i shot their engagement session back in july, and i remember coming home and telling my husband that i had just spend two hours with one of the most fantastic couples ever.  but as much as i enjoyed my time over the summer with them, it paled in comparison to the joy of shooting their wedding the week before christmas.  that day was packed to the brim with love, reverence, commitment, and elation.  it was the perfect way to end my year...and the perfect way to end this FACEBOOK TOP TEN OF 2010 post.  (if you kept up with their photos throughout the year, you know the significance of the umbrella.  i couldn't resist.)

I don't know how you were able to narrow your photos down to just 10!
I know how much each of your clients mean to you. I hope they all know that, to you, they are never just another appointment, but a cherished time filled with blessings and joy.
with loving pride,
mom
